Zimbabwe will host India for three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches in June, the country’s cricket board said on Tuesday. BCCI confirmed the Tour on Wednesday.

All the matches will be played at Harare Sports Club with the ODIs scheduled to be played between June 11-15 and the Twenty20s between June 18-22.

The three ODI’s will be played on June 11th, 13th and 15th with the T20’s to be played on June 18th, 20th and 22nd.

 

“After finalising all the formalities with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, we are pleased to announce the incoming tour scheduled for this June,” Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa said in a statement.

India have been regular travellers to Zimbabwe in recent seasons with three previous tours since 2010, including last year, all featuring limited-overs matches.

Team India in 2016:

The Indian cricket team played against Australia and Sri Lanka in 2016. India toured Australia in January 2016. Indian cricket team lost four ODIs against Australia. Team India managed to sweep the three T20s, though.

Sri Lanka visited India in February for a short T20 tour. India won that series 2-1.

Team Zimbabwe in 2016:

Zimbabwe played Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates in 2016. They toured the United Arab Emirates in 2015-2016 to play Afghanistan. Afghanistan won the One-day International series 3-2 and the Twenty20 International series 2-0.

Zimbabwe visited Bangladesh in January 2016 and played 4 Twenty20 Internationals. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe won two matches each.

India and Zimbabwe in WT20 2016:

India reached the semi-finals of the recently concluded WT20. On the other hand, Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the Super 10. That dropped them even further in the T20 rankings.

Trivia- Afghanistan had an amazing WT20 2016. They currently stand at number nine above Bangladesh and Zimbabwe (as on 3 May 2016 ).

India vs Zimbabwe – Previous Encounters:

India toured Zimbabwe in 2013. This tour consisted of five One-day Internationals. India recorded a 5-0 win in that series. This was India’s first 5-0 sweep in an away series.

India toured Zimbabwe in 2015 as well. India had a successful ODI campaign yet again. Team India won all three ODIs during that tour. However, India and Zimbabwe each won one of the two T20s played.
